Colour Me Cassie

We are a couple from Australia and the UK, based in London. We are lucky enough to be able to spend time travelling the world. This is a little journal sharing our travel advice, thoughts, feelings, laughs, photos and regrets from all the places we have visited. This isn't a glossy, perfect travel blog but an opportunity for us to share with you the best places that we have been, the best food we have eaten, the best photographs we have taken and the best adventures we have had so far but it also includes the things we didn't like so much so hopefully you can learn from our triumphs and mistakes!

Below is the list of our latest adventures and plans and we need your help! Please comment and share and discuss your favourite places and restaurants and bars and sights and sounds to help us and everyone else reading this to plan future travels...

Before we decided to visit Nicaragua, it wasn't a country that was on my list - I'll admit it, but boy I was wrong to keep it off. We visited Nicaragua for two weeks as part of our journey through Central America. Nicaragua is a beautiful place that was sadly going through many hardships. A beautiful country that was very safe for us whe...

From everything we had read about Manuel Antonio it was going to be our favorite place in Costa Rica. Unfortunately, we set our expectations a little too high and Manuel Antonio, although very beautiful, ended up falling a little flat. The beaches are truly as amazing as everyone says but unfortunately our time on the beaches was a littl...

Stunning Puerto Viejo. On the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, close to Panama, this beautiful little town is a great place to chill out for a few days, explore amazing beaches and eat good food... which is exactly what we did!

Where to sleep

We stayed at two different places in our 8 days in Puerto Viejo, both through Airbnb. The first...

Tortuguero was the second stop on our Costa Rican journey and was a strange but magical place. We both love turtles, so it made sense for us to visit the most important nesting site for Green Sea Turtles in the western hemisphere. We stayed for a week, which is longer than most, and got to experience a lot of nature, a lot of rain, and a...

San Jose has a bit of a bad reputation and a lot of the reading we did before we came suggested spending as little time as possible there and only really use it as necessary to travel around the rest of the country. We did use it as a travel hub but the three times we stayed we made sure to do it for at least 2 nights each time. San Jose...

When our original Casa Particulares host had to cancel on us for Havana, we changed our plans for Cuba and decided to include a trip to Trinidad and I'm so glad that we did. We took a shared taxi to Trinidad from Havana which was door to door service for $80 for two people. The journey took about four hours from Havana, and we ended up s...

Cuba is a place that I have wanted to visit for a long time so when planning a trip to Central America it made sense to incorporate it right? From the moment we set foot in Cuba it really was something else, walking through the airport felt like travelling back in time. Cuba, and Havana in particular, really is a test of your senses, you...

After our 9 hour flight from London, we decided that we would stay a night in Florida so we weren't rushing around with flights before flying to Nassau the next day. We are get everywhere early people, which means that we were at Fort Lauder-dale airport at 5:20 AM for a 9 AM flight (crazy, we know!). After a long wait of our own making...

A day trip to the farm.

There is something special about the hustle and bustle of London and everything that comes with a big city. However, once in a while you need to take some time out of the big smoke and rejuvenate in the countryside. This was our second trip to Garsons Farm in Esher, Surrey, the perfect place to unwind for a few ho...

The butterflies that come with the excitement of planning a big trip. It’s something that I haven’t felt for a while now...

Almost two and a half years ago I moved to London with one of my dearest friends. We’d just finished university and we were unsure what we wanted next in our lives. One day, I texted her “What are you doing next year...
